About Dead & Company

Dead & Company formed in 2015 to carry the Grateful Dead’s music and improvisational tradition into a new chapter. Founding members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann joined guitarist and singer John Mayer, bassist Oteil Burbridge, and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, bringing together generations of musicians around the Dead’s songbook. Drummer Jay Lane replaced Kreutzmann for the 2023 tour. The band’s concerts combine psychedelic rock, blues, folk, and jazz-informed improvisation, with changing setlists, extended jams, and songs flowing into one another. Large-scale tours and Las Vegas Sphere residencies have continued the communal concert experience central to Deadhead culture. Rather than a conventional tribute act, Dead & Company is a successor project rooted in the original band’s musicians, repertoire, and spirit of musical exploration.
